According to the local staff working at this field site, this behavioral innovation appeared in this group in November 2014.
We are investigating the early diffusion of this intriguing interspecific sexual behavior. In January 2015, 3 adolescent female monkeys performed the behavior.
In December 2017, our first article on this study has been accepted for publication in the peer-reviewed journal Archives of Sexual Behaviour and has drawn some media attention.
